Fair enough, but why green diamonds? Glad you asked.

My daughter asked me as I was colouring it:

“Are diamonds red?”
“No, sweetie.”
“Can they be Green? I like green diamonds.”
“Not really, then they’d be emeralds. Emeralds are green.”
“What colour are diamond’s then? You said they weren’t red.”
“They’re a clear colour. The clearer the better.”
“So why are they red in your drawing, dad?”

That’s when my brain broke a little bit. Well green diamonds make just as much sense as red ones, so why not? The sketch challenges are meant to stretch you brain a bit, and this one did, just not in the direction I thought it would go is all.

Back story: in the first six months of my daughter being at her grade one school there has been two major “evacuate-everyone-now” fires (fires, not drills, fires. These items are probably unrelated as I am just making a correlation, not a causation, about the events. Draw your own conclusions. No one was hurt, injured, lost or died in those fires. Fire drill practice isn’t wasted time, kids, I don’t care how cold it is outside.

And back to our regularly scheduled cartooning. A day late, but hey, you weren’t at work or checking your email for it anyway. Right?

Every year, this time of year, it gets busy. Really busy. So instead of a full on cartoon I cheap out and post a sketch. Getting to be tradition around these parts, so enjoy! I wish you a merry season of no Death (cause I’m not providing it).
